Jordan Rahtz - Denver Chapter

WiSE: You had a successful career in the financial industry before you moved into enablement, how did you make that transition?

Jordan Rahtz:  I worked as a Director in the Financial Services industry for 7 years and was looking to make a change to a fast-paced industry where I could utilize my relationship building, training and continuous improvement skills to better an organization. I was brought in as an individual contributor to run Sales Onboarding at RingCentral, and continued to move up through the Enablement Team to lead a team of Revenue Enablement Managers at Procore Technologies. I'm always up for the opportunity to share some tips and tricks on industry and career changes!

W: What are you looking forward to most over the next year?

JR:  I'm looking forward to graduating with my Executive MBA from Auburn University in May of 2024. Juggling a career, two small kids, and a masters program has been a major balancing act for the past 2 years. I'm excited to have some free time back!

W: There are so many great things about enablement, what is your favorite thing about your role?

JR:   My favorite part of being in Enablement is the ability to problem solve in a way that has an impact on the organization. Enablement is a trusted stakeholder that is responsible for digging in, solving problems and removing roadblocks to allow Revenue teams to drive additional success. There is never a dull moment - I always feel challenged with new areas for me and my team to tackle in creative ways.

W: What is the most important advice you can offer to someone looking to get into the enablement field?

JR:   Network, network, network AND make sure you can use applicable skills to demonstrate how you would be successful in an Enablement role. When making the industry transition from Financial Services to Enablement, I spoke to the skills I had built throughout my career and how they would be applicable to an Enablement role. However, knowing someone at the company was how I got my foot in the door and passed that initial recruiter screen - it’s important to utilize your existing relationships and learn as much as you can about the Enablement field to really have the best opportunity.

W: Are there any certain skill sets or certifications that can better someone for an enablement position?

JR:   Herding cats - just kidding! Sometimes Enablement can feel like herding cats, though. It’s really important that someone in Enablement possesses the ability to build strong relationships and understands how to influence others, prioritize multiple tasks and priorities on a very regular basis, and have a curious mindset - digging in and asking the right questions is a crucial part of a successful enabler!
